Dream interpretation is the process of assigning meaning to dreams.

In many ancient societies, such as those of Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unravelled by people with certain powers. In modern times, various schools of psychology have offered theories about the meaning of dreams.

In the early 20th century, William John Warner, known as Cheiro (November 1, 1866 - October 8, 1936)

was a world-renowned seer, or sensitive, who was consulted by royalty and other famous people including Mark Twain. His predictions were rumored to be highly accurate. In this volume Cheiro chronicles some of the episodes of the paranormal that touched his life. The experiences related in this text served as the original and true predecessors to what have now become a vast store of ghostly lore.

Doyle was a Spiritualist. In particular he favored Christian Spiritualism and encouraged the Spiritualists' National Union to accept an eighth precept – that of following the teachings and example of Jesus of Nazareth. He also was a member of the renowned paranormal organisation The Ghost Club. Its focus, then and now, is on the scientific study of alleged paranormal activities in order to prove (or refute) the existence of paranormal phenomena.

Steven Arnold Due to the very late hour of my retiring to bed, I fitfully tossed and turned and drifted in and out of uneasy dreams of dreaming that I was dreaming about the days events. Every time I woke up I was absolutely certain that I was actually awake, but then I would notice something slightly off kilter and realize I was dreaming again. I’ve been awake for an hour now and am still vaguely confused.

this is perhaps the most famous ghostly image of all time, yet to this day no one has been able to disprove its authenticity. The photographers were visiting Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England, to take pictures for Country Life magazine when they captured the original lady of the house, Lady Dorothy Townsend, descending the staircase. Provand witnessed the apparition with his eyes first, then managed to lift his camera and take this famous photo.

by what was called an "everlasting faint" but was soon given the name 'The Greenbrier Ghost' after she appeared to her mother and told her she had actually been murdered by her husband. The events surrounding the haunting led to it becoming the only time in American legal history in which the so-called "testimony of a ghost" was accepted at a murder trial.

Bloody Mary (in folklore)

is a legendary ghost or spirit conjured to reveal the future. She is said to appear in a mirror when her name is called multiple times. The Bloody Mary apparition may be benign or malevolent, depending on historic variations of the legend. The Bloody Mary appearances are mostly "witnessed" in teenage group participation games, often as part of a game of truth or dare.
